Tiscali Smarttalk are one of the best value Telecom companies you can use. Their domestic service was part of the LibertySurf Group, but is now owned by Tiscali, one the biggest ISPs in Europe. The reason many people use them is their flat rate call price of 2p per minute (charged by the minute) for all UK 01--- or 02---calls. This tariff is called Smart Talk Daytime Extra. This rate for all national geographic calls is actually cheaper than BT's rate for daytime local calls!

They also have a good 6p per Hour plan. You pay 3p per minute during the day but only 6p per call up to an hour, off-peak and weekends. Unlike the equivalent BT plans there is no monthly charge.

On their OffPeak Saver plan you get unlimited, evening and weekend calls, for £4.99 per month

You can no longer use them from your mobile phone to make calls. In March 2002 they withdrew all 0800 access, you have to register a bt landline.

They are often criticised for their slow customer services and because their statements come months late. However they always do get it right in the end. It is worth persevering!

They have excellent  prices for International destinations, they compete with Planet Talk,  C2000 or Telesave.
