We never try to sell you anything. But we do know that you are paying
too much for your phone bill. It is nearly always nearly always possible to ring
someone cheaper. Intense competition in the phone industry means that prices are
usually falling but who should you use. We tell you !!!
- Calling to a land line
-
We all do it! We just pick up the phone and dial. However most
people use BT and pay just whatever it costs. Yet BT are very rarely
the cheapest, in truth, they don't even try to be. Their prices to
some extent reflect whatever they can persuade Oftel to let them be.
However there are numerous other suppliers who nearly always compete
on price. We put you in touch.
- Calling abroad
- Almost everybody has to make international calls occasionally and
the price of these calls can be anything from giveaway to criminally
over the top. We include an up to date chart of the costs from nearly
all of the major suppliers. So if you really have to ring Ruritania
then we'll tell you how!
You can also check out our 'Clever Ways'
page which shows you how to use alternate codes and companies that use
them.
- Calling a mobile
-
It's a rip off. You know it, they know it!
It's cheaper to ring a Vodafone in Australia than it is one next door!
When you ring a mobile your phone company has to pay the incoming
network an access fee. This is where a substantial part of the profits
for the mobile operators accrue.
We can't make it cheap but we can make it much cheaper.

- Calling the Internet

You are probably using a dial up connection to view this
site.
It doesn't cost much per minute, but it does add up. In the UK we have
to pay for our local calls on the meter; another minute means another
penny or two. There are ways round this problem. We show you how.
We review the free ISPs.
- Calling premium rate numbers
-
Sometimes you see an advert for a product or service but you
have to ring a strange number. The supplier should tell you what it
costs to ring them but why not make sure. Check here for the ones to
avoid.
